Nudity

by Glass Cristina

about

On 2017 Glass Cristina embarked on the journey of writing and producing their now much anticipated first LP titled Nudity - an exploration of a vast number of topics for the band, showcasing a diverse body of work with a range of themes and sounds.

From Kings of Nowhere social commentary on the lust for power to Bad King Johns allegoric tale about the repercussions of social discouragement to even Scaramouche’s’ witty theatrical narrative, the album when looked at closely could be seen as a book of short stories that could work as separate from one another. But together they work to create a powerhouse of musical narrative that will most definitely get you up and moving.

From Supermagic’s upbeat electro-soul to Icarus’ atmospheric synth bass lines, all the way to their last beachy-sax-lead vibe single Tiramisu, we have seen a palette of different colours and shades. One thing is clear: the LP is in itself a duality. Whilst there is colour as we’ve heard in the likes of Scaramouche and Supermagic, there is also a darker side to it as showcased in the likes of Icarus and Bali, showcasing the best of both worlds.

Nudity is the result of a profound self-discovery-through-incessant-work and composition for the band, showcasing a non-relenting evolution in both sound and identity. And the band has openly put a window for the audience to glance in and become part of this metamorphosis through the release of its 10 singles.

Taking as its main totem the symbol of the mask in the creation of the concept encapsulating Nudity, Glass Cristina has put this totem with incredible historical resonance as the face of the LP, hinting at the idea of how past events can condition our experience in this world and how we see life as a journey that consists in stripping off from these preconceptions and, thus, be nude from them.
